RANCANGAN HIPOTETIK LAYANAN KONSELING DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN PROBLEM SOLVING TRAINING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENGELOLA STRES AKADEMIK

Abstrak
Stres akademik memungkinkan peserta didik mengalami perasaan cemas dan terancam ketika dihadapkan pada tuntutan akademik. Aktivitas belajar di sekolah yang dapat menjadi sumber stres bagi peserta didik diantaranya ulangan harian, ujian, mengerjakan tugas, tambahan waktu belajar, dan persaingan prestasi antar peserta didik. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui gambaran umum gejala stres akademik, dan kemampuan mengelola stres akademik, sebagai dasar dalam merancang layanan konseling untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mengelola stres akademik. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian deskriptif. Partisipan dalam penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas IX SMP Negeri 2 Garut Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015 yang berjumlah 242 peserta didik. Pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen yang mengukur gejala stres akademik dan kemampuan mengelola stres akademik, berupa angket model force choice. Hasil penelitian (1) tingkat stres akademik berada pada kategori sedang, (2) kemampuan mengelola stres akademik berada pada kategori tinggi, (3) rancangan layanan konseling untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mengelola stres akademik dengan menggunakan problem solving training. Rekomendasi ditujukan kepada guru mata pelajaran, guru BK dan peneliti selanjutnya.

Abstract
Academic stress allows students to experience feelings of anxiety and threatened when faced with academic demands. Activities in school can be a source of stress for students including daily tests, exams, work on assignments, extra time learning, and competition among students. The purpose of this study was to determine the general description of the symptoms of academic stress, and coping ability, as a basic for development of hypothetical design of counseling with problem solving training to improve coping of academic stress. The study used a quantitative approach with descriptive method. Participants in this study were students of grade IX SMPN 2 Garut Academic Year 2014/2015, they were 242 learners. Force choice questionnaire was used as instruments for collecting data to measure academic stress symptoms and coping ability. The results of the study were: (1) The level of academic stress was in moderate category, (2) the level of coping ability was in high category, (3) the design of counseling services to improve coping ability by using problem solving training. Recommendations addressed to teachers, counselor, and next researchers.
